Andrea and Adam’s wedding ceremony at the AGH Design Annex, April 26, 2014, violin & cello duo, Hamilton ON

"Thank you so much for the amazing performance on Saturday! The violin and cello really set the tone and pulled everything together to create an amazing evening! We received so many compliments on the classical music choice and skill (especially from my cousin, who is a musician and luthier from manitoba- he was utterly impressed)  We will certainly recommend you!" Andrea & Adam White

This was our first time performing at the Design Annex of the AGH in Hamilton. The venue is located on James St, which is where the now famous art crawl takes place, and is very close to the water. We arrived quite early, and setup—it was clear that as soon as we arrived (Almost 1 hour early) that all of the preparations had been taken care of—everything was in place and looked beautiful. We had a nice chat with the groom, and the officiant before the guests arrived which was nice. As the guests started to arrive, the violinist and cello player performed a mix of classical and more popular music. The ceremony proper was a fantastic mix of Pachelbel, with Bach and the Beatles added, and the guests really enjoyed our performance! What a great ceremony, venue and of course, married couple!

Alaina and Patrick’s wedding ceremony at St Philip’s Roman Catholic Church, January 11, 2014 in Goulbourn ON

You guys were fantastic and made the ceremony perfect. Thank you very much and we will recommend you to our friends. Alaina and Patrick

The bride and groom were looking for an upbeat and fun selection of music to accompany their wedding ceremony, and they chose a number of great songs, which Duo d’Amore had a great time performing.

As the guests were arriving, they selected songs that many guests would know, by John Lennon (Imagine)

And Louis Armstrong (What A Wonderful World) to more modern pop songs like Eric Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight and Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing. This really set the mood for the ceremony

For the bridesmaids processional, the Beatles Here comes the Sun was performed, followed by the very beautiful A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. This worked so well, and I am sure that A Thousand Years will be come a wedding ceremony classic. I also enjoyed the paring of this song with the previous song. Both songs are quite different and do a great job of letting the guests and family know that the bride is about to walk down to aisle.

For the signing the couple chose two songs: My eyes adore you and Somewhere over the rainbow, and the recessional, as the bride and groom were exiting was Bittersweet Symphony, which is loud and has a strong beat which is perfect for the end of the ceremony.

Prelude:

Time to say goodbye

What a wonderful world

Wonderful Tonight

Don't stop believing

Imagine

Hallelujah

Ceremony:

Bridesmaids Processional - Here comes the sun

Bride Processional - A thousand years

Signing - My eyes adore you and Somewhere over the Rainbow

Recessional - Bittersweet Symphony

Thank you so much for providing such beautiful music to accompany our ceremony and cocktail hour. Our day was so beautiful thanks to you and your team. I wish we could have met in person! I hope to work with you again in the future! Tiffany and Jon

When you bring the right people together, magic can happen, and this was certainly the case with Tiffany and Jon’s wedding ceremony held at Inn on the Twenty. The couple was beautiful and easy to work with, and the ceremony had such a great flow and was full of fun. The views from the windows room are stunning, and we were glad to see Anne from White Orchid Weddings there—she always does a fantastic job! The ceremony music was equally spectacular with a broad range of music ranging from classical music during the prelude and modern music throughout the ceremony. We received lots of compliments on our performance from the guests, as everyone had a great time. Congratulations!

Amber and Vaughan’s wedding at the Fairmont Palliser, violin and cello duo, July 20, Calgary AB

This was Duo d’Amore’s first time performing a wedding ceremony at the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary. As I have mentioned in the past, venues other than Churches (though we love playing in beautiful venues with amazing acoustics) can be exceptional spaces to hold weddings and events. Why? Clients get much more of a say in how the ceremony goes, and for us we enjoy it because clients can choose different music from what they might choose if the wedding ceremony takes place in a Church. Amber and Vaughan did just that—they chose an eclectic mix of music that went perfectly with the wedding ceremony.

Rebecca and Steve’s wedding ceremony and cocktail reception String Quartet, July 13th Ancaster Old Mill, Ancaster ON

Our string quartet has the opportunity to perform for the wedding ceremony and reception at the Old Mill this past Saturday and everyone had a great time at this beautiful event. We worked along side some familiar faces such as the staff at the Mill and Rev McNally, who I have spoken about in another blog, as well as some new faces—the wedding planner Jackie from the Prepared Bride and Love You Madly Photography.

When we arrived at the venue, the only person there was the staff from the Mill and Jackie. We had a very nice conversation with her and mentioned that everything was arranged and ready to go. Like us, she was extremely organized. Soon after the photographers and cinematographers arrived and setup. Prior to the ceremony they look some beautiful shots of our string quartet, which we hope to post here soon.

Not long after that the guests started to cross the covered bridge over the stream that flows through the Mill property, and it was time for us to begin to play. We performed a selection of classical music until we received the cue from the staff to begin the music for when the Reverend and the groom walked up the aisle. This was Bach’s Air on the G string. We continued to perform this song as the parents and groomsmen walked own the aisle. Next, we switched the Pachelbel’s Canon in D for the six bridesmaids and flower girl, switching again to the Wagner Bridal Chorus for Rebecca’s bridal processional.

After the exchange of rings, vows and the kiss, Steve and Rebecca signed the marriage license. The signing portion of the ceremony is very nice for the guests and for us, as it allows people the change to meditate and take is the fact the two people are getting married and have promised to love each other for the rest of there lives. Music is a wonderful addition to the ceremony especially during the signing, and we performed another popular piece from JS Bach-Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring. This song had a beautiful flow to it which is enhanced by the gentle murmuring of the stream nearby.

After the license was signed, the Reverend introduced the couple and they exited to Mendelssohn’s’ Wedding March,. We continued to play 3 or 4 additional songs after the Wedding March until all of the guests had exited. The cocktail reception took place in the Millview Room of the Ancaster Mill, and from our point of view it seemed like all of the guests were really enjoying themselves. For this portion, we performed a selection of Modern music, from the Beatles,U2, jazz standards like Blue Moon and Once in While and other contemporary songs.

Summer is definitely upon us, and Julie and Mike did a great job in planning a beautiful summer wedding! Rockcliffe Park Pavilion was built in 1918 and overlooks the Ottawa River, as you can imagine it is a fabulous venue for a wedding ceremony. For Julie and Mike’s wedding, they booked Sean on solo violin who performed Imagine by the Beatles as the attendants walked down the aisle, followed by Blowers Daughter for the bride. The melody from What a Wonderful World was performed for the Signing, and the summer classic Wouldn’t It Be Nice led the couple down the aisle as husband and wife.

Imagine" will be played for the attendants walking down the aisle, "Blowers Daughter" for when I walk down the aisle, "What a Wonderful World" for the signing and "Wouldn't it be Nice" for the recessional.

This wedding ceremony took lace in the Gallery Room upstairs at the Pillar and Post in Niagara on the lake. This private room as a gereat location for a wedding ceremony, and Duo d’Amore has performed here many times in the past. For Lindsay and Tobias’ wedding, we performed a great selection of popular music, starting with Today by the samshing pumpkins as the bridesmaids processed down the aisle. For Lindsay’s entrance we performed a beautiful song by Bright Eyes called First day of My Life that sounded great. This was followed by You and Me by the Dave Matthew’s Band and finally All You Need Is Love by the Beatles.

Melody and Scott’s Wedding Ceremony at the Ritz Carleton, February 9, 2013, Toronto ON

Duo d’Amore was honored to participate in a wonderful winter wedding held at the Ritz Carleton in Toronto.

The music selections were somewhat traditional but with a modern twist. The bridesmaids walked in to Spring by Vivaldi. This was a great choice as I think everyone in Ontario is hoping for and end to Winter and warmer temperatures soon. Melody entered to Pachelbel Canon, followed by Bach Air for the signing of the marriage license. This piece is uniquely suited to the signing of the register, as it is quiet and introspective, but also very beautiful from the audience’s perspective. The fun twist at the end of the ceremony was the music selection for the recessional: All You Need is Love by the Beatles. This selection is just one of the hundred or so songs that we have in our Modern Repertoire and an excellent choice to walk to as man and wife.

We really appreciated the hard work of wedding planner Michelle Garber of Fabfete. We have worked with her on a number of wedding ceremonies and events and she always does an exceptional job!
