Wedding Ceremony Music Kitchener/Waterloo-Thank You Card!

We received a lovely thank you card from our clients Kris and Stephanie, who were married on September 29, 2018 at a private residence on the outskirts of Kitchener-Waterloo.

"Matthew, Thank you so much for the superb musicians and music during our wedding celebrations on September 29th. By all accounts & unsolicited feedback--they were the best ever! Thanks for helping us make our day special & memorable! S&K"

It was a pleasure for our violin and cello duo to perform this wedding, and we wish Stephanie and Kris all the best for a long and happy marriage!

“We hired Duo D'Amore to provide a violin and cello duo for our outdoor ceremony at Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Communication was fast and efficient. They had an excellent selection of pieces to choose from for our ceremony, including many non-traditional classical pieces. We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a similar group for their wedding or event!” Taryn, Bride

Taryn hired Duo d’Amore to perform for her wedding ceremony at the Pillar and Post  in Niagara, which is always lovely, and we enjoy performing there. The ceremony music was all classical, and extremely elegant while also upbeat-especially the recessional. For the Bride we performed Charpentier’s Prelude from TeDeum followed by Massent’s Meditation from Thais. This was originally written for violin and orchestra, and we often perform it in an incredible arrangement for the violin and cello—it’s a real showpiece and makes a statement. Lastly for the recessional, our violinist and cellist performed the bright and happy La Rejouissance as the couple walked down the aisle together!

Processional: Charpentier Prelude from Te Deum

Signing: Massenet meditation from thais

Recessional: Handel La Rejouissance from the Royal Fireworks

Thank you Duo d'Amore for adding such a special touch to our wedding ceremony last June 16, 2018. Our guests were so amazed on how you guys played during our ceremony. The string duo was excellent and the music they played was so beautiful. Thank you Matthew for such an awesome experience, you are so accommodating of my request and very efficient in communicating.  We will definitely recommend you.” Maricar, bride

It was a real pleasure communicating with Maricar for her beautiful wedding at St Catherine of Siena Church in Mississauga. She hired Duo d’Amore’s most requested ensemble (our violin and cello duo) to perform for her wedding Mass, and chose a great selection of both classical music and popular music to fit the portions of the mass. If you are reading this because you are planning a wedding, it is good to note that St Catherine of Siena Church was very accommodating to different genres of music. Some catholic Churches have a strict list of music that couple s can pick from, and in this case the bride and groom had the opportunity to add some modern flair alongside the classical pieces.

"We could hear the music from the bridal suite and it was stunning, and exactly as we had hoped. Numerous guests told us that the music was beautiful, and added a certain je ne sais quois to the mood. We would highly recommend Duo d'Amore. - Caitlin C.

Caitlin and Rob had a beautiful wedding ceremony and cocktail reception at the National Arts Centre on May 5th, and Duo d'Amore's violin and cello duo were so happy to be a part of it. The music for the day was simply phenomenal! Caitlin chose quite a bit of pop music across different genres to set the mood for each part of the ceremony, with more upbeat selections during the cocktail reception. This helped to create a different feel for the cocktail portion, and our unique pop music selections certainly helped with that aspect of the day. A special mention also goes out to the wedding planner Shannon Kennedy of Kennedy Event Planning, as she did a great job as always. Back to the music! Here was the program for  both the ceremony and cocktail hour:

Prelude:

Bittersweet Symphony, Halo, Here Comes the Sun, In My Life, Wonderful Tonight

Ceremony:

Wedding Party Processional: Can't Help Falling in Love

Bride: All You Need is Love

Recessional: Game of Thrones Theme

Cocktail Reception:

A Thousand Years, Call Me Maybe, I Got A Feeling, At Last, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Only Time, Sweet Child of Mine

Wildfire smoke at wedding ceremony in Alberta 2018

Duo d'Amore's string ensembles have performed in many venues and under many circumstances: we have performed on beaches, on mountaintops, at both the atlantic and pacific coasts, on the prairies, at vineyards, on ships, on trains, but this weekend was a first for us--we performed amidst the smoke from wildfires at two different wedding ceremonies in and around Canmore AB. This certainly made for a unique and memorable experience, one that the bride and groom as well as the guests will remember for the rest of their lives. Tourism operators in the area haven't agreed if the wildfires and smoke is having an impact on business, but judging from the fact that wedding ceremonies are still taking place, people are trying their best to go on despite and setbacks. One thing to note is that if you are travelling in the Canmore/Banff area please consult www.banfflakelouise.com  for up to date information on weather conditions/ road closures etc.

We love happy clients, and love getting reviews of our performances. The latest review comes from Amanda, a bride who was married at St Charles Borreomeo church in Toronto. Here is what she had to say about the performance of Duo d'Amore's violin and cello duo:

Outstanding Performance, beautiful music!

Outstanding performance! The team played beautifully during our wedding ceremony. Very organized and very responsive to e-mails. Ottawa wedding ceremony music, Dongyuan + Shifeng’s wedding at Fairmont Montebello, September 24, 2016

The weather for this wedding ceremony at Fairmont Montebello could not have been more perfect—sunny, and not too hot, just what everyone hopes for their wedding day. The ceremony music featuring our violinist and cellist was also out of a fairy tale, as it was light and elegant with both standard and not so standard classical music, as well as Elvis’s Can’t Help Falling in love, which brought a modern touch to this very beautiful ceremony.

Kitchener Waterloo wedding ceremony music, Ange + Steve’s wedding at the Hacienda Sarria, September 17, 2016

It was great working with Ange and Steve on their wedding ceremony and cocktail reception at the Hacienda Sarria in Kitchener, as well as their planner Ainsley from fresh look designs. This is a venue that we perform at quite a bit, and it was great to be back. For music, Ange and Steve had a more traditional ceremony, incorporating classical music for the string trio (2 violins and cello) featuring music by Bach in the Air from the third orchestral suite, Pachelbel Canon for the brides walk down the aisle and another piece by Bach for the signing of the register, his Wachet Auf or Sleepers Awake. Then for a fun twist, We are the Champions by Queen for the recessional. When it came time for the reception, we really kicked things up with modern pop music for the strings including the Game of Thrones Theme, some Counting Crows, Foo Fighters, Etta James, Black Eyed Peas—a whole bunch of really upbeat and interesting music, exactly what they wanted. It was a great night, and we can’t wait to be back!

Niagara Wedding Ceremony music, Tiffany + Michael’s wedding at Konzelmann estate winery, September 3 2016

The weather was perfect for this outdoor wedding at Konzelmann Estate Winery.  Tiffany and Michael hired our largest ensemble, the string quartet, which provides the maximum volume and richness of sound, and it really helped to create lasting memories for the bride and groom as well as the guests.  The ceremony music was all pop music, and we were excited to perform fantastic arrangements.

We often receive lovely reviews from clients, and I though I would take the opportunity to share our latest review. This is from Megan, and we were thrilled to provide a violin and cello duo for her wedding ceremony at the Ancaster Mill on September 2, 2017.

It was a pleasure working with you and we cannot say enough great things about your musicians and your services. The music was absolutely perfect and really filled up the space. It was the perfect addition to our ceremony. All our guests raved about the music and how wonderful it was. I am recommending you to all our friends that are getting married in the coming years.

Thank you again for all of your help leading up to and on our wedding day. Your services were wonderful!

Toronto Wedding Ceremony music: Kaitlyn + Cole’s wedding at Hockley Valley Resort, August 13

We love clients like Kaitlyn and Cole as they were extremely excited to have Duo d’Amore perform a fantastic selection of music at their wedding ceremony at Hockley Valley. As the guests arrived the violin and cello duet performed modern pop music, with songs including Fields of Gold, I Think I Wanna Marry you, River Flows in You and others. When the officiant, parents and groomsmen were ready, we performed You Raise Me Up, making a smooth transition into Beyonce’s Halo for the four bridesmaids. For the bride the strings performed a lovely rendition of Pachelbel Canon for a traditional touch. When the couple signed the marriage license, we moved back to pop music with Elvis’ Can’t Help Falling in Love. When the couple was pronounced man and wife and the wedding party exited, w performed Viva la Vida, to add a lovely touch to a memorable wedding ceremony!

Leah + Tom’s wedding at Calgary Olympic Park August 13 2016, Calgary wedding ceremony music

The bride and groom originally planned this wedding ceremony outdoors at Canada Olympic Park, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate, and the ceremony was moved indoors. That was a smart choice, and the guests were able to enjoy themselves, without any issues from rain! Regarding the music selections, Leah and Tom were interested in our traditional selections, which looked like this. Everything worked out beautifully, and sounded even better!

Cristina + Ben wedding at The River Cafe July 2, 2016, Calgary wedding ceremony music

This wedding was held on the outdoor patio of the River Cafe in Calgary—a beautiful location, and the musical selections were just as inspiring. For the ceremony Cristina and Ben chose primarily classical selections (with a modern and upbeat song at the finale of the ceremony) followed by contemporary music during the reception portion.  All of these songs work particularly well with the string ensemble they chose: the violin and cello duo—our most popular ensemble! Everything was seamless and beautiful, and finely coordinated as always with the talented planner at Evelyn Clark weddings. Thanks everyone!
